For the realization of a new home including basement on the Parklaan x Haute in Veghel, excavation is required. On the right side lies the new building close to existing buildings. At the front of the new home with basement lies the street on short distance, here are utility lines located. For a safe excavation of the cofferdam retaining walls are needed. The retaining walls must be applied with a vibration-free method.

The present ground is suitable for applying the Cutter Soil Mix - system. With the Cutter Soil Mix - system a Cutter Soilmix – wall is made vibration-free by mixing the present ground with cementmix. The mixed result is reinforced with steel reinforcement bars.

The benefits of Cutter Soilmix - system are the low implementation risk, minimal disruption to surroundings and a practical result. For example, at the time that the cofferdam is used, the CSM-wall has a temporary earth-retaining and water inhibiting function. However, the CSM-wall can be used as a foundation, it than has a permanent feature.

Therefore in Veghel we opted for a completely closed cofferdam performed with CSM walls. This works good for the emergent water hazard, but even better, savings could be found into excavations and foundation piles by using the CSM-wall as a foundation.
